Plastic fantastic

It’s been quite a while since I have tackled a lace knitting project. Even the simplest of lace requires more concentration than I ordinarily have at my disposal. Still, I hankered after a lacey, slouchy beret-style hat and it would be shameful for a knitter to buy such a thing, so I cast on for the Interlude Hat. I kind of like how it turned out.

Lace slouchy beret

I say kind of, because it turned out a little small. I blocked it over a plate and it grew, but in the wrong places. I didn’t gain much height, but the brim is now quite large. There is also a little mistake in it, but considering my limitations, I didn’t do too badly. It is totally wearable, so mustn’t grumble.

I used some very lovely Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend which I bought from The Point in NYC (now, sadly, defunct, I believe).

Since last posting, another year has elapsed since my birth and I was thrilled to become one step closer to becoming like Will’s mad craft wife on Glee. My dearest friend, C, made this possible by gifting me a laminator. Sigh. I am a stationery junkie. Is there a place for people like me to go? Anyway, I have put it to good use by making some durable flash cards for Spike. See.

Flash cards

Laminators are great. They make everything so plasticky and shiny… I wish I was ten and not thirty two, then I could start an exclusive club (no boys!) and make everyone membership cards.

The laminator was actually part of a present extravaganza the main part of which was this. The game has been customised to represent my life. Awesome, no? Pictures to follow on completion.

In other news, Spike has recently been seen wearing a smoothie moustache.
