crafty happenings

Gosh. Early October is packed with craft fairs this year.

There’s obviously the Knitting and Stitching Show at Ally Pally from Thursday 12th to Sunday 15th October. I’ll be populating the ‘Stitch ‘n’ Bitch ‘ area on the Sunday (although I like to think there won’t be too much bitching going on), so make sure you come over for a knit, if you’re attending! I went last year and was mesmerised by all the stalls and wandered around in a bit of a daze.

Farnham Maltings, in my home town, is hosting a Festival of Crafts on the 14th-15th of October (and you can visit the In Stitches exhibition which is on at the same time). I think I’ll have to give it a miss this year, but I’d be interested to hear what it’s like if any of you plan to go.

Finally, there’s a new one – Origin – which is being held at Somerset House in London from 3rd to 15th October. It looks great. There is a healthy contingent of knitter exhibitors. I particularly like the look of Keep & Share, especially the A/W 2006 collection ” inspired by Gram Parsons‘ subversive approach to country music” and prillywear. prillyware’s website has a little “how to make felted pom poms” page, which particularly endeared me to her. I also like her spotty, felted bags.

Fun, no?

  • WIll see you at Ally Pally if I escape the SIlkwood stand :)

  • Again, thank you for all those links. What a knowledgeable knitter you are! Origins looks brilliant, particularly Keep & Share… I wish she sold patterns :)!

I’m staying away from Knitting & Stitching at Ally Pally as I am about to have to spend all my pennies on books. I’ll look forward to going vicariously through all the blog posts though.
