Eucalan?

I’m coming to the end of a couple of scarf projects and want them to smell good and be nice and soft for the recipients. To such ends, I have got hold of some of this:

Eucalan

Has anyone used Eucalan before? Is it any good?

I purchased it for a mere £1.50 from eBay, so I’m prepared to reject it if needs be!

How do you wash your woollies?

  • I’ve never used Eucalan before, but the packaging looks enticing! I use Country Homestead Wool Mix, which I found on the Lakeland website.

  • all this knitchix in the states who use it can’t be wrong – i’ll be interested to hear how you find it. like laura, i use the country homestead wool mix which comes in a HUGE bottle.

  • Hello there – I was just going to comment to say I use the Lavender WoolWash from Lakeland, but it looks like two lovely ladies have beaten me to it !

The Eucalan does looks lovely – I’m sure it will be fabulous – maybe you could give it a go on a jumper that you don’t wear too much just to see how it turns out and then go for it in a big way.

  • I’m really scared of washing wool. pathetic for a knitter to admit but true. we didn’t grow up with natural fibres in my family and I never had anything that was handwash as a kid, consequently I never learned how to do it. I haven’t managed to make myself a jumper yet, when I do, I know I’m going to have to embrace the woolwash thingy. till such time, I’ll be checking out your tips!

  • I’ve used Eucalan before and I like it very much – especially the not having to rinse bit and the lovely smell it leaves. I believe it’s also good at repelling the dreaded moth. Never tried the Lakeland version – reading your comments here makes me think I need to.

  • I use Eucalan (both the regular and lavender scent) to wash my handknits. It’s gentle, so no worries.

  • I’ve been using Eucalan for all my knits. The plain version, that is. I imagine that the Lavender version smells heavenly. It’s great stuff!

  • Thanks for all the woolly washing tips, guys!

  • Ooh, I’ve been wanting to try Eucalan for ages. Will have to stalk eBay!

I currently use Tesco’s own handwash liquid for silks. Does a good job, and doesn’t need much rinsing.
