How many of you?
I saw *this* over at BlueADT’s.
There are no people with my name in the States, which I didn’t find totally suprising, but I was surprised that my surname was the 100th most common. I don’t know where I would have placed it at a guess, but not that high up. I suspect it isn’t as common in the UK.
I have a yarny question for you. You might remember I brought this home with me from Japan:
Anyone got any ideas what I could do with it? It’s linen, black and glossy, and I have three skeins (I can’t remember the yardage off the top of my head). I was thinking a sort of wide scarf /shoulder wrap type thing. I don’t want to knit a shawl, as I think linear shapes will suit the yarn better. Anyone know of a simple linear lace stitch/pattern I could try out? Or maybe you can think of something different entirely. I’m all ears…

How about a nice dropped stitch top that you can wear over a straps top?

Rachel over at yarn-a-go-go (Oct 8th post) made a great lace stole, and tells how to make one using your two fave lace pattern panels. have you got a stitch dictionary?

There was a beautiful linen lace top in a recent issue of Interweave which used Louet Euroflax Linen. I had a look at the yarn manufacturer’s site and they do lots of patterns for their linen yarn which you might find suitable for your mystery yarn, take a peek here:

A ha, I have found a picture of it, scroll down and look at the ‘eyelet chemise’ – it only uses three skeins in the smaller sizes:

I like Anna’s idea of using Yarnagogo’s recipe to make a stole. Or maybe something like this ladder stitch scarf?

How about Orangina by Stefanie Japel aka Glampyre Knits? I just finished it in orange cotton and I know it would look fabulous in black (Knit and Tonic made one in black).

I don’t know if you have enough for something along these lines (shorter, obviously) but linen yarn immediately suggests to me something like this:
