Simple knits

Ah! Lazy Saturdays. There’s nothing like them. I think they’re even marginally lovelier than Sundays because the Saturday Guardian is better than The Observor, and the day is untainted by the Sunday evening blues.

I took myself off to Liberty today to buy some fabric to back my log cabin blanket. This was a strategic attempt to help me through the inevitable “Gah! How many stitches?!” stage. When I have one of those moments, I can look over at my lovely Liberty print fabric for mental reinforcement.

Log cabin & fabric

It was quite tricky to find a fabric with a masculine feel (i.e. which wasn’t floral) and which fitted in with the colour scheme, but I’m happy with my choice. I hope DB is too.

Look, another finished Ballband washcloth. This is probably my last for a while.

The log cabin is going to be simple sofa knit for the time being. My Giotto socks are my portable project. They’re nearly finished, and will probably be succeeded by another pair of magic loop socks in order to cement my understanding of the technique.

  • I hope you’ll not be offended by this, but that log cabin square looks SO much better than the last one you posted up (before you had thought through the colour combi). I REALLY like the combination on show here and am looking forward to seeing how the blanket develops over time. Good luck with your biggest project to date (?am I right?)

  • Happy belated birthday!!! :) (I reminded myself on Friday to wish you happy birthday on Sunday, and somewhere in between I lost a couple of mental marbles)
