postcrossing

I am planning on settling down to write my snail mail to my spoilee in Secret Pal 7 this evening. I have purchased lovely writing paper especially, and I am planning on sending some other paper-based goods.

I love snail mail. There’s nothing like getting a non-bill/circular in the post, especially in these new-fangled modern times. When compared to dashing off a quick email or text, a letter takes effort and a stamp. So if someone has gone to that trouble, it’s rather pleasing. I also like to send, as well as receive!

Which is why I was particularly pleased to find out about *postcrossing*. It’s a project which allows people to send postcards to fellow Postcrossers around the world, picked at random, and also to receive a postcard at random. I have requested my first address and I’m to send a postcard to “Miss Marlene’s Class” a pre-kindergarten class somewhere in Alaska! Isn’t that lovely?! They like pictures of “buildings,
bridges, boats, people and animals”. So I’ll have to look for something fitting.

When the recepient receives the postcard, they visit the website and log the ID number which the sender puts on the card, and the sender will then become next in line to receive a postcard.

Do sign up. The more the merrier, I say!

  • Ohh I think I’m going to join too.
My husband thinks I’m a huge nerd but these things like postcrossing and secret pal, etc, remind me of the pen friends I used to have when I was studying english at the British Council (ok I was 14 but still) – I had one pal from Egypt and one from Zimbabwe. :-)

  • Ohhhh I love postcrossing!! It’s so fun!! :)

    Take care
