So this is Christmas…
Ahhhhhh!
Days off are a wonderful thing. I am feeling almost rejunvenated by my 5 days out of the office. Admittedly, I am back at work today, but I have no intention of grinding myself into dust over the days between now and the New Year.
I hope you all had as pleasant a seasonal break as I did. I have mainly spent the last 5 days eating, which is also a good thing. On Christmas Eve, DB cooked an amazing goose for me, his ma and his ma’s partner. He really is one helluva cook. Christmas Day was spent with the Spitting Yarn throng. We ate turkey and got overly excited by my small cousin’s Gupi – as you do. Boxing Day was spent with DB’s ma. This time she cooked and we ate delicious roast rib of beef.
I got some great presents, too. Here are some sort-of-knitting-related ones:
My lovely mum bought me the crochet book, which I am very pleased with, as I need a reference point for crochet basics. This looks like a good one, if anyone is looking to fill a similar niche in their library. Scarf Style was gifted to me by DB’s ma, at my request, and it is every bit as good as I hoped. The sewing book was a present to myself. One of my new year’s resolutions is to master the basics with my sewing machine – learn how to sew in a straight line, that kind of thing!
I have virtually not knitted over the last 5 days. What with presents to wrap, food to eat and sales to hit, there has been no time. However, I do have some progress on my heart lace scarf to show you.
Isn’t it pretty!
I should have knitted a few garter stitches on each side of the pattern panel to eliminate rolling, but I didn’t think ahead. I have now made a good foot and a bit of scarf, so I am reluctant to start again. Can anyone suggest/recommend a simple after-thought edging to make the scarf a little more wearable? Maybe a crochet edging is the way forward?

I’m back in the office today too. I am so hungover!
Glad to hear your Christmas was fun.
