A cry for help
Can anyone suggest an aranish-weight yarn (or heavier) which is super-soft, solid or semi-solid and not fluffy or sheeny. Any type of wool or wool-heavy mix is unlikely to do, unless it’s as soft as this (which, incidentally, is what I am trying to substitute).
Mr Spitting Yarn is *very* particular.
A proper post to follow, with knitting in and everything!

Rialto Aran? That’s really not soft enough? Sublime Cashmere Merino Silk Aran? King Cole Merino Blend (with anti tickle)? Mirasol Q’ina?

Manos Wool Maxima is also very soft in the skein and I imagine even softer once washed.
(sorry keep forgetting the no wool edict)

I’d try Rowan Amy Butler Belle Organic Aran. I just knit the Victoria Cardigan from the latest Knitty from it and it is great stuff. My Victoria: http://www.ravelry.com/projects/wendyknits/victoria

Rowan Cashsoft Aran? It does have a teeny weeny bit of a shine, but only just… x

Ooh yes, the Belle Organic is a great suggestion. No shine, no hair, 50% cotton.
