Corners of My Home
I have delighted in the Corners of My Home series. Like lots of people, I take a certain voyeuristic pleasure in seeing the insides of people’s homes. The photos submitted often show highly ‘groomed’ corners, and occasionally I hanker after a real corner. Having said that, it is clear that a lot of thought and creativity has gone into some of the pictures and they can be very inspiring.
I’ve wanted to participate for a while, but have been waiting until I get around to tidying up. Well – clearly that’s not going to happen any time soon, so I thought I’d go confessional and show you one of my corners.

We’re big on books around here; this is one of our 5 bookshelves. On our last guestimate, we have a couple of thousand books. Home for us is where our papery friends are. For me they are my education, my relaxation and my inspiration.
Big props to Soule Mama, one of my favourite bloggers and a craft idol, for coming up with such a lovely idea.
Maybe one day I’ll have a tidy corner to share.

I love the bookshelf! In fact, it’s just what I am planning in my office once we are a bit more settled here and are getting round to things that are somewhat less essential than running water and functioning kitchens… My father has a library with black shelves up to ceiling hight, and I share his passion for books (and resulting hoarding of them), so having something similar to house them all has been a long-harboured dream of mine.
‘Corners of My Home’ is such a wonderful idea. I signed up for it ages ago, but then we decided to move and since then everything has been so chaotic, not to say unfurnished, that I have yet to post a single corner of my home!!

No no, don’t tidy! That’s one of the best corners I’ve seen in ages. And I love that thought, ‘home is where the papery friends are’. I don’t treat my books very well (I write in them, break their spines, pile them on floors and read while eating), but books for me do so much more than furnish a room. Thank you for sharing your wonderful corner. It’s such an inspirational, comforting picture.
